Senior Civil Technician/Technologist   

Saulteaux Consulting and Engineering is seeking a Senior Civil Technician/Technologist to provide engineering support and design, specifications, contract administration, and technical services for our staff and clients.       

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in practices and theory in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of civil works including roads, water and sewer systems, landfills, electrical knowledge, and inspection experience;
  • Knowledge and experience with PMBOK fundamentals and project controls;
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
  • Ability to monitor the progress, quality, and productivity of construction work to ensure that objectives are met;
  • Contract and specification knowledge;
  • Flexibility to deal across a range of technical disciplines;
  • Extensive CAD Skills – ability to prepare complete drawings sets for Civil works.

Responsibilities

Duties will include direction, organization, and implementation of technical projects regarding the identification, planning, design, operation and construction of projects.

The successful applicant should be able to:

  • Deliver successful project outcomes measured in terms of time, cost and quality;
  • Seek pricing, evaluate, hire and supervise external engineers and engineering services as required;
  • Maintain close contact with site-based project activities including periodic site visits to manage and inspect installation and construction work and ensure efficient standards of workmanship are maintained;
  • Prepare preliminary and definitive capital and operating cost estimates;
  • Prepare as-builts, contract summaries, completion reports, statutory declarations, operation manuals, etc as required;
  • Provide contract execution strategies and develop contract documentation including scopes of work, scopes of services, technical specifications, and contract plans commensurate with project needs;
  • Evaluate potential environmental concerns during the planning of capital projects;
  • Develop preliminary cost estimates and evaluate the cost/benefits of project proposals;
  • Monitor the construction progress of capital projects, prepare physical status reports, identify potential or real problems, and provide recommendation for their prevention or correction;
  • Assist clients in the development of the required documentation for project submissions to the various funding or financing authorities;
  • Undertake drawing reviews to ensure conformance to applicable codes and local physical requirements.

Senior Architectural Technologist

Saulteaux Consulting and Engineering is seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist to provide architectural and engineering support and design, specifications, contract administration and technical services for staff and clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in practices and theory in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings;
  • Extensive experience in code review;
  • Knowledge and experience with PMBOK fundamentals and project controls;
  • Contract administration experience, as well as contract and specification knowledge;
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
  • Capacity to manage projects from inception through to close-out within defined standards;
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate by appreciating the various implications of alternative designs, plans, and proposals;
  • Flexibility to deal across a range of technical disciplines;
  • Extensive CAD Skills – ability to prepare complete drawings sets for Architectural works.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Environmental Health and Safety Policies;
  • Design projects to meet local, provincial and federal requirements dependent upon jurisdiction;
  • Deliver successful project outcomes measured in terms of time, cost and quality;
  • Maintain close contact with site-based project activities including periodic site visits to manage and inspect installation and construction work and ensure efficient standards of workmanship are maintained;
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities as required;
  • Develop design concepts for projects;
  • Develop the architectural and engineering scope of work;
  • Prepare preliminary and definitive capital and operating cost estimates;
  • Prepare as-builts, contract summaries, completion reports, statutory declarations, operation manuals, etc as required;
  • Diligently monitor project costs ensure project capital approval budgets are not exceeded, and report cost trends in a timely manner. Monitor schedules for projects and correct as required;
  • Perform regular invoicing, billing and cost tracking of projects;
  • Seek resolution on complex technical problems and/or policy matters as required to ensure satisfactory completion of design and construction;
  • Develop preliminary cost estimates and evaluate the cost/benefits of project proposals;
  • Assist Clients in the development of the required documentation for project submissions to the various funding or financing authorities;
  • Undertake drawing reviews to ensure conformance to applicable codes and local physical requirements.
