Naicatchewenin First Nation, Ontario
Naicatchewenin First Nation is committed to fostering and protecting the political, physical, mental, emotional, social, economic, and spiritual well-being of current and future generations. With growing administrative and health services, NFN required expanded facilities and partnered with SCE for architectural and structural design services. The proposed addition extends the existing roofline and provides light-filled office spaces, an enlarged staff room, meeting room, and storage. United Native Friendship Centre I Child Care Centre
Fort Frances, Ontario
The United Native Friendship Centre Child Care Centre houses both the Family Support Program and the Head Start Program, serving children from infancy to age five. The facility includes a Family Centre with kitchen, admin offices, staff areas, infant–preschool program rooms, a commercial kitchen, laundry, and a shared gathering space. SCE created bright, open interiors with ample glazing and a culturally inspired central gathering area. Cost-effective natural finishes and wood-frame construction shaped the building’s warm, functional, and playful design.
